TIS Books is a private class reading journal. A school runs it for its own students. It is not a public network.

For a child, the school stores a display name, a username used only to sign in, a grade, an age band, the class, and the short quotes and reflections the child writes. There is no student email, phone number, birth date, photo, or location.

Teachers and school admins use a real email so the school can invite them and reset their password. Students do not see those addresses.

Quotes stay in the class they were written for. Classmates see a quote only after the school’s moderation rule allows it. Reaction counts do not show who reacted.

If the school erases a child, the name, quote text, and reflections are removed immediately. Safety reports and audit records can remain without the child’s name for 15 months, then a scheduled job deletes those tombstones. Backups kept by the host may still contain data until the host’s own backup window ends.

The school remains responsible for deciding why it uses the journal and for its safeguarding duties.
